Pictures from Palmas

We travelled with Marcio's family to Palmas to visit his brother, Maurilio, who has been living there for about 6 months. Everyone warned us about the heat we were going to encounter there, but as it happened, the temperature dropped during the time we were there to bearably warm. These are a few pictures from our trip.

Sanna and Jess on our motorboat ride in Palmas. We were taken to a little island where we got out just to snap a few pictures. I swam in this water and it was the first time so far that there was no cold shock upon getting into the water. I found out the next day that it´s a bad time of year to swim because of the heightened presence of sting rays. I´m so glad it was the next day that I found out because I thoroughly enjoyed the swim!

Fransisco (Marcio's dad) and their long-time friend, Graciel. At this farm we hiked to a small river and swam near a small water fall (think very small).

Travellin' in the back of the pickup - Jess, Joy, Lidia. I eventually got to drive the truck myself back in Anapolis, at Marcio´s insistance. It was only about a 4-5 minute trip between Lidia´s house and Marcio´s. I was nervous at first, because I don´t have much experience driving standard. I´ve only ever driven Mom and Dad´s car. After just a few minutes it was fun though. For me anyway. Jess was sweating by the time we got home and Marcio told me later that I scared him too!
